The Band – Our Story
Schiehallion have been playing music across Scotland and further afield for the past 35 plus years. The band’s founding member Kenny Jamieson started his musical journey in Dumbarton. After travelling to gigs around Scotland he then moved up to the Highland capital Inverness where the band is now based. Stuart MacKintosh joined the band in 2004 and has been the main accordion player since. Kenny and Stuart are the main duo who gig around the country but they are also joined on occasion by Bagpipe player Callum MacGillivray who joined the band in 2008.
Kenny (Bam Bam) Jamieson was born in Rhu and brought up in Dumbarton. He started singing as a teenager in front of a campfire at Dumbarton Castle until the landlord of the ‘Elephant and Castle’ offered him work in the pub!
The rest is history! He has lived in the capital of the Highlands for the past 30 years and has been a constant figure in the Inverness music scene ever since with his rich and powerful voice.
Raised in Glen Urquhart on the shores of Loch Ness, Stuart took up the accordion at age 12 and soon took to performing in his Uncle’s pub, The Slaters Arms.
At 18 Stuart joined the band and has been a mainstay ever since. Stuart also teaches the accordion in Inverness and beyond as well as being a long standing stalwart for Glen Urquhart Shinty Club. His heroics as a goalkeeper have earned him international recognition at Under 21 and Senior level for Scotland in shinty hurling matches against Ireland.
Callum, a local lad from Inverness joined the band at age 16 and always lights up any gig he plays at with his rousing tune sets.
Callum has been the main piper in the band for many years in between his travels around the world! Now based in Glasgow he is available for functions for the band.
